TVET programmes for women offer ten field options

A total of ten main fields will be offered as a start for the implementation of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programme (TVET) specifically for women.

According to the Chairman of the Rubber Industry Smallholder Development Authority (RISDA), Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, the 10 fields include information technology, entrepreneurship, engineering technology, leadership and management, marketing, Home services, Rural business, Tourism and hospitality, agrotechnology, and Logistics.

She added that the focused area was seen as being able to attract the interest of women to participate in the special programme.

“We have higher education centres that are directly involved in this programme, such as Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia (UCAM) under RISDA itself.

“Therefore, we can offer a higher and wider TVET field compared to what was offered before,” he told Bernama.

Dr. Noraini stated that his party was actively discussing the special programme with several agencies involved, with the goal of implementing it by early next year at the latest.

In addition, he also expressed confidence that the quota of 15,000 admissions to the programme announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last month will be met.

“UTeM has planned a comprehensive and inclusive programme that involves various parties in TVET, such as public universities, polytechnics, and TVET training institutions throughout Malaysia. UTeM has also established a female TVET academy called JELITA to coordinate this special programme throughout the country in a professional manner.

“In an effort to attract 15,000 women to be involved in this programme, we have devised several promotional strategies, such as using social media, career carnivals, and several other programmes,” he said.–THE MALAYA POST
