KUALA LUMPUR, September, 24 – Many protesters were seen holding placards and banners “nyawa dulu, baru PRU”, calling the authorities to prioritise lives rather than elections.
The protest, organised by Parti Ikatan Demokratik (Muda), in front of the Sogo Shopping mall started at about 4pm and ended around 4.45pm.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who was among the speakers during the rally, said everyone should remember the devastation caused by last year’s floods.
“In times of disaster, it is not the time for politics.
“If the elections are held during the floods, how can the rakyat be taken care of,” he questioned.
“It is instead a time to focus and fight for the people on the ground.
Several police personnel were on hand to the nature nothing untoward occurred during the protest.
Previously Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya had urged the organisers not to hold the protest.
