MADANI Medical Scheme: Less burden on the people and health workers

KUALA LUMPUR Jun, 16  – The MADANI Medical Scheme implemented by the government is seen as a two-pronged strategy for reducing the burden on people seeking health care.

Private medical practitioner Dr. Riza Hartini Razali said the initiative was worthwhile because eligible patients would be allocated medical treatment at private clinics.

At the same time, she said, the burden on health workers and congestion at government hospitals or health clinics can also be reduced.

“The scheme also provides provisions for private medical practitioners to carry out health examinations such as blood tests, urine tests and others.”

Previously, it only involved some types of treatment and non-comprehensive examinations.

“With this scheme, patients can get comprehensive health services,” she told press today.

Dr. Riza Hartini said that patients do not need to rely solely on health clinics to get treatment, especially in areas where the location is quite far away.

Accordingly, she hoped that the scheme could be expanded to the whole country in stages and promoted on all media platforms so that the public would be more aware of the government’s initiative.

Earlier, the goverment announced that the scheme, which will be implemented from today until December 31, will be automatically offered to recipients of the Rahmah Cash Donation (STR) to obtain health services.

She said they can seek treatment through the scheme’s pilot programme at registered private general practitioners (GPs) in 10 selected districts. It involves Gombak, Hulu Langat, Klang, and Petaling (Selangor), Kuala Lumpur, Kinta (Perak), East Timor (Penang), Johor Bahru (Johor), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah), and Kuching (Sarawak).–THE MALAYA POST
